Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed which was based in Washington DC. In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was on a panel for the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
